I’m originally from the south of the Netherlands and moved to Haarlem in 2012
- after my Bachelor Studies of Illustration Design - where I now work from my home studio surrounded by sketchbooks, my cat Raffer, a little sunny city garden and half-drunk cups of tea.
After years of combining freelance work with part-time jobs, I’ve been working fully independent since 2018.
About Me
My style is shaped by light, colour, and lots of contrast, and often carries something a little strange, whimsical or quirky. I love projects that let me build small worlds: book illustrations, decorative maps, artwork, educational materials and mythical creatures and places.
I find inspiration in folklore, nature, old books, maps, music, film scenes, people I meet and everyday things that feel thoughtful or catch my eye.
Over the years, my work has found its way into children’s books and magazines, board games, event posters, retail products and store windows, signs, maps and learning materials. I real enjoy switching between formats - it keeps me on my toes! - from playful children’s projects to more technical or commercial illustrations; as long as I can bring something human, thoughtful and a little fun to the table I'm all in. There's nothing more special than seeing people loving my artworks.
When I’m not working on client commissions, I like to create personal work rooted in myth, folklore, local legends and fabled creatures; visual stories that sit somewhere between the real and the imagined. This year, I’m carving out more time for that side of my work.
I believe that good illustrations don't just decorate, it should be put together well (technically), and touch your soul.

I work digitally and traditionally, blending the two for a handcrafted feel with a clean finish. I illustrate in Procreate and Adobe Photoshop, and I’m experienced in preparing artwork for print and production. I create solid design files and handle the nitty-gritty stuff when needed.
